Executive Education Programme for a Leading Industrial Manufacturing Company

Client Request

One of the world's largest industrial manufacturing companies was undertaking a corporate training initiative for its senior management team. The human resources department identified the crucial topics to be addressed in the proposed programme, and then sought an external provider to design and deliver the programme. They approached the joint venture of  LSE Enterprise and Duke Corporate Education, the world's number one provider of customised executive education according to both the Financial Times and BusinessWeek, to offer a suitable solution.

Approach and Methodology

Through engagement with the client and Duke CE, LSE Enterprise  put together a fully customised solution. In terms of content, a multi-module programme was created that covered the topics identified by the client as most crucial to success, ranging from managing cultural change in the organisation to increasing corporate value. Structure-wise, each module represented a combination of fundamental knowledge sets, application of theory to practice in general and as case studies, and application of knowledge and experience to the client's current situation and future plans. What made our solution distinct and strategically valuable to the client was the appointment of an expert facilitator. This ensured consistency of the modules' content and structure and linked them together into a coherent, comprehensive programme.

Solution and Benefits

The solution offered to the client represented a combination of topical knowledge and hands-on experiences from academic and industry experts; full customisation of content, structure and style to the client's needs and demands; and complete integration of the programme's components into a coherent and properly sequenced curriculum. The programme addressed the corporate development of the client as a growing enterprise, contributed to the professional and individual development of each manager engaged, and also provided another opportunity for the top management to engage in team-building exercises. Most significantly, it allowed the senior management team to acquire and apply new skills together and develop a shared agenda which could be used to lead the company in the right direction. The key benefits that LSE Enterprise delivered to the client were its broad scope of expertise on offer - a combination of the world's top business school and social sciences university - and its unique approach to programme customisation and implementation.
